... is still talked about hundreds of years later to an entire tour group.
My mom and I spent a few days in the Crescent City this year. Though it rained the entire time, it was a great trip! Not only was it quality time for the two of us, but it gave us a unique look at the city. Because of the weather, fewer people were out and about. Because it was mid-week, fewer alcoholic beverages were being consumed.
One evening we were looking for something fun to do and ran across a haunted tour. We, of course, are skeptics of any lingering souls sticking around saying "boo" but we love history and scary stories so we went for it. Totally worth it.
The walking tour brought us to several haunted places, including Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar, St. Louis Cathedral, and the Lalaurie Mansion - for any AHS: Coven fans out there.
If you go past the Cornstalk Hotel and the tour guide ask the group why you think the fence is in the shape of corn... don't yell out "Vampires hate corn!" That's garlic, not corn (duh, Jill) and also doesn't make any sense. But the real story behind the cornstalk fence is worth a listen.
For those of you planning a trip to NOLA, you should really consider a haunted tour. It's fun for the family, or a group of friends, or any mother-daughter duo who don't mind walking around the French Quarter sipping on hurricanes.
Just because the hurricanes are two-for-one, doesn't mean you need two-for-one.
